Friday Speaker Series Rick Valicenti
AIGA Chicago, Chicago Portfolio School and Portfolio Annex presents founder and design director of Thirst, Rick Valicenti with some final thoughts for those just starting out. Rick will also present a behind-the-scenes look at the Thirst studio model.
Rick Valicenti is the founder and design director of Thirst. In 2006, Rick was awarded the AIGA Medal for his sustained contribution to design excellence and development of the design profession. This medal is the highest honor in the graphic design profession.
His work has been exhibited in the MOMA, Emigré Covers, Smithsonian, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, and published in practically every major graphic design publication including AR100, Graphis, CA, Print, Step, New York Art Directors Club, ACD100, Tokyo Art Directors and I.D. Magazine, among others.
Rick is a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and was awarded the 2004 AIGA Chicago Chapter Fellow. He has lectured at colleges and events across six continents, most recently at 2009 Design Indaba, the world's largest multi-disciplinary annual conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
