AIGA Chicago Mentorship Program
Have you been wondering what it's like to work for a big agency with big clients, be an in-house designer at a nonprofit, develop websites from the ground up or even start your own company?
Maybe you've felt a little left out of our great big creative community or find yourself at design events standing in the corner staring at your phone. We've all been there. Yep, even me.
How would you like to meet other creative people, be inspired by their successes and learn from their struggles. Share resources with the people in your community, give back by talking about your experiences and maybe even collaborate on a project or two. The AIGA Chicago Mentor Program might be the place for you!
Sessions run 2-4 months depending on the time of year with a total of 8 meetings during each session. The groups are mixed with 8-10 people of all career levels and from all creative fields. Each group decides on their own what they want to do based on the theme for that session.
Past participants have created their own studio tour series, hung out at each other's homes, brought in speakers, talked about their weeks, learned how to letterpress and collaborated on events for the entire Chicago community. Pretty awesome stuff!
I started this program because throughout my career I have had amazing people in my life who have guided me and really been a huge influence in the way I run my company and my life. I believe we all have something to share with each other regardless of our age, job title or network. The mentor program is an evolution of something I started within my own circle 12 years ago. Not only does that original group still continue to share with each other, but I consider them some of my best friends too. I hope this program does the same for you.
