AIGA Design Education Conference 2004

FUTURE HISTORY, Allegro Hotel, Chicago

FutureHistory: AIGA Design Education Conference 2004 is the first national AIGA conference for graphic design educators. This gathering of designers from over 40 educational institutions will include general sessions, breakout discussion groups and juried paper presentations.

Teaching represents a unique convergence of the past and the future. The transference of information, experience and history to a new generation directly impacts the future of the field. FutureHistory will explore the dual nature of the role of the graphic design educator as a keeper and disseminator of past knowledge, and as an explorer and director of things to come.

Conference topics will focus on both the historical aspects of design education—the dissemination of knowledge to students, the role of our own personal influences and histories, the history of design—and the challenges of the future: increasingly complex communication needs, the interaction and influence of technology, and the impact and opportunity of an increasingly diverse culture.

The conference is open to AIGA members and Non-members, design educators and professionals.
